1. Slide the stud finder in a figure 8 pattern on the wall
2. When it locates metal, the magnets hold the stud finder to the wall, hands-free
3. Double check you're on a stud and not hitting a random nail or screw by repeating above, below or to the side of the original measurement.
4. Once confirmed, the stud finder stays in place while you mark, drill and measure
